He was born in 1984 in Artvin, a town in Turkey’s Eastern Black Sea region. Later Erzurum, where he spent his childhood, was also where his interest in science, art, and nature was nurtured. He received his bachelor’s degree from Yıldız Technical University, Department of Industrial Engineering, and his master’s degree from İstanbul Technical University, Faculty of Architecture, Department of Design.
Between 2021-22, Yiğider has conducted a conceptual art project named “Conveying a Scent Beyond Time” at Bilgi University Architecture Faculty where he is a guest lecturer. On the other hand, he is a senior manager responsible for creative processes in an industrial company that produces unique fragrances used to enrich industrial consumer products and food flavours. Aromas are very much present in Yiğider’s daily life. Two of his interdisciplinary projects are the Scent of Baksı (2016, Baksı Museum) and the Intellect exhibition (2021, Gallery Fine Art, Moscow). In 2018, as a curator and artist, he realized the Massence project (Seluz Contemporary permanent collection), which includes the works of 29 artists from 15 countries.
An artist sensitive to nature, Yiğider is interested in “living organisms” in nature. The material he mostly prefers in his sculptural works is aromatic wood species with which he can establish a robust sensorial connection (no need to mention that he uses only dead trees or environmentally friendly industrial-purpose wooden materials). On the other hand, focusing on the social behaviours of some biological species, he works on experiments by using molecular analysis techniques. Between his studio and the laboratory, his challenge is to push the limits of creativity for conceptual thinking and the formal freedom under his sensorial projects and sculptures.
