“Conveying a Scent Beyond Time” is a conceptual art project led by Ahmet Yiğider as a guest lecturer at İstanbul Bilgi University with his students. As the name suggests, he decided to let the students pick various scents of their liking (through a workshop where the students smelled more than a hundred molecules and essential oils), come up with a conceptual idea around that, and then transform that idea into physical art – a form – through experimentation. To jog their creativity, he had the students envision a distant future in which smell and the molecules that made them up no longer existed. He then asked them to interpret and use their idea and art/form to figure out how to carry smell (as we know it now) into that fictive future.
